Strengthening Families Framework

Developed by the Center for the Study of Social Policy, the Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework is a national and international initiative that strives to build and strengthen five specific characteristics (called Protective Factors) that create strong parents, reduce child abuse and neglect and promote optimal development of children.

Protective Factors are attributes in individuals and families that, when present, alleviate or eliminate risk in families and increase their health and well-being. Although all families will experience stress and risk at some point, Protective Factors aid parents in finding community resources, positive support and coping strategies to bounce back and thrive.

CLEO embeds this framework in the community of Central Lake, strengthening families and promoting a thriving community.
